Netbook Reflection

What it has been like using a netbook this year it has been cool because it has made my learning better cause we get to go online and search up stuff that we do not know of. And the only stink thing is that it has made my handwriting go worse because we do not write that much we do our work on a document. Also I like how we get to go onto golden time when we are good. Also we go on Xtra Maths to practise our basic facts also we go on Maths whizz. Maths Whizz helps us with different things they give us times table Measurement and heaps of other stuff. Also we get to take our netbooks home which is awesome and we get to do our homework that our teacher gives us we can do it online. It has been awesome using a netbook for 2 years because it is a better way to do our work for me.

Cultural Day!

On Friday the 22nd of November we had to show our presentation that me and my group were learning about to our class and the rest of the syndicate. Our class was learning about South America. Miss G separated our class into groups, my group was learning about Colombia.

We started the day with a mass for the Syndicate. After the mass we went out and we went and got our pencils to mark room 7 while they were doing their presentations. Room 7 started with showing their presentations first to us. I liked their presentation because they were not nervous but the only thing was that they did not know their words off by heart. After room 7 we got to go out to morning tea.

After morning tea the whole Syndicate had to line up outside of our class to come and watch us do our presentations. I was feeling nervous standing up in front of room 7 and room 6 and part of room 3. But luckily me and my group went last so that we could have time to practise. The first group that went first in our class was Peru. My opinion about their presentation was that it was good because I liked how the slides changed and I did not know anything about it until they showed us.

When it came to me and my groups turn we stood up and we walked towards the front of the classroom. We started of with a welcome then Ma’ata said something about Colombia’s traditional dance. Kanesini said  Colombia’s Favorite sport was Cycling and Football and Rosrine said stuff about Colombia’s clothing. It was getting closer and closer to my turn. Victoria had her turn explaining how to make food in Colombia. Suddenly it was my turn I was nervous at the same time as feeling alright because instead of the teachers marking it the whole syndicate was marking me and my group. I said my part which was about what languages Colombian’s speak. Colombia's main language is Spanish. After I said my part it was JT’s turn and he was talking about the environment in Colombia.

We all did really well and we were very proud of ourselves at the end of our presentation.

Touch Training.

I am looking forward to playing Touch also looking forward to the skills we are going to learn.

I am expecting to play some games then get on with what we are going to learn.

I think we are doing it to learn how to play Touch properly and learn the right rules for touch.

What I think we will see is cones, balls and the Touch New Zealand team there to teach us how to play Touch properly.

Film Festival 2013

On a lovely, beautiful, sunny morning St Pius X Catholic School was going on a trip to Sylvia Park Hoyts. The reason we went there was because it was like a Festival where all of the schools from the Manaiakalani Cluster had to make a little movie close to the end of the year and we show it to other schools. The schools in the Manaiakalani Cluster were St Pius, St Patricks, Glen Innes Primary school, Panmure Bridge and Pt England and some other schools.

Our school had four movies shown to other schools one was from room 3 and room 6 and two other were from room 7 and the junior school.

When the bus finally arrived at the bottom of the hill we had to go first into the bus. There were two buses that had to take us to Sylvia Park Hoyts. I was feeling excited because the chairs were comfortable and we got to see all the other movies that the other schools prepared for us and they got to see the short movie we had prepared for them to watch. When I got told to sit down by my teacher I got to sit next to a student from Glen Innes Primary. When we sat down Mr Coakley came on stage and started to say something. We had to wait a little while because they were setting things up. When it started our film came up first but before that Patrick and Alecia said something to present our movie. Our movie was about success and it was fun. The two movies I liked the most were St Patrick’s movie because the magical teacher can tell where you were and what that little boy was doing and I also liked the room 7 song about friends, I enjoyed their song that they wrote all by themselves.

After all of that we had to go out of the Hoyts and we had to line up and walk back to our bus that was waiting for us. We went back to school in time and had our morning tea for 10 minutes.

The only sad thing is we did not get to watch all of the movies because there were other schools that needed to watch some movies but it was fun and some of them were funny.

Once upon a time there were two young children that were living with there mum and dad. They were planning to go to the park so they could have a picnic. So they all packed their stuff and headed off to the park.

Once they got there they unpacked their stuff and they set it up. But before they started eating Jason and Elizabeth mum and dad laid down together under a tree and Jason and Elizabeth ran off to play on the playground. Then they decided to play hide and seak. So Jason ran off and hided behind the trees then when Elizabeth finished counting she shouted out loud “Ready or not here I come”. Then Elisabeth looked all over the park and Jason was no where to be found. So she went and looked behind the trees. Then as soon as she went she heard Jason shout out “Elizabeth come quick”. As soon as she heard Jason she ran in the direction Jason voice was coming from. Then she said to Jason “what wrong” and Jason replied back to Elizabeth whispering “shhh look then Elizabeth looked. Prompt Practise 2

On a lovely sunny day there were plenty of families that were planing to go to the beach on a very hot day. But there was a man that did not have kids or a wife. His name was Thomas.
Also there was a little girl called Lisa and she was 7 years old and she did not know how to swim. She went with her family to the beach. Once they got there they could see hundreds of people laying on top off the sand and some in the beach having a swim.

They hopped out and they ran and set up something for them to lay on the sand. But the only thing is that Lisa had to go for a swim with her life jacket on. But she ran into the beach without noticing she did not have her life jacket on. She ran and she hopped and dived into the beach. That is when she realized that she did not have her life jacket on. She tried to swim to the top to call out for help but she couldn't then luckily Thomas saw a small hand popping up and going down in the beach. Then Thomas ran and he jumped in and he swam as fast as he could towards the hands. Just at the same time her parents were wondering where Lisa was. Then as soon as Thomas got there he grabbed Lisa and ragged her out. Lisa started to cough out beach water. Then as soon as Lisa parents found out they ran to Lisa as fast as they could. Then Lisa parents started to thank Thomas for saving Lisa.

Then they all went out to dinner together with all smiles on their face knowing that Thomas saved Lisa.

Thank you Jam Bus team.

Dear Jam Bus Team,

Thank you Sam and Hugh for making the time to come and record St Pius X Catholic School’s songs that we practiced. I'd like to thank the Jam Bus team again for making our CD’s and paying for everything. We felt so excited because for most of us this was the first time being recorded.

Yours sincerely, Misiotei.

Squash.

On a lovely sunny day on the first day off school back from the holidays we had a new kiwi sport that I and some off my classmate have not heard off and I wondered what it was.
Then I found out it was called squash. The time we had to be there was after morning tea which was 11 o'clock and we finished at 11.45. Once we got there they introduced their self to us.One off there names were Phil and the other one was Michael.

The first thing we had to do was sit down and watch Phil and Michael show us how to play by versing each other and telling us to tell them who won. Then they told us the rules for squash. After they taught us the rules and how to play Phil splitted us into two groups. We got to chose which one we wanted to do first and the options were learn skills or play squash me and my group chose skills. So we Phil took us and we gathered around in a small group and he told us to watch him and what ever he told us to do we had to try it out and Michael took the other group and played squash.

Then the next day Phil and Michael bought a real squash ball and they showed it to us when it was our turn. And we played king of the ring. What we did is Phil showed us courts that we could go to and then we all splitted up. There were 5 courts the lowest one was were you had to just do skills and the two top person had to go up a court and the two lowest had to go down a court. I was in court two with some other off my classmate. When it was my turn the first thing that came two my head was that I would not be tired at the end. But at the end I was exhausted. Also after that Miss G showed us a video clip off two player playing squash. And we saw that we had to goggles. Also the wall all around them was white so they could see the little black ball

Finally it was our last day of squash which was sad. We done the same thing as we done that day before. But the different thing was that we walked into the hall and we saw there were tables and benches lined up across the back of the squash court. We used that as the white window that the real squash players use. After all of that we had to say goodbye to Michael and Phil because it was I last day which was kind of sad but I enjoyed it and I hope the rest off my classmate did.

Kids For Kids Rehearsal...

On a lovely sunny day we got to go on a trip to Life Convention in Centre, Mangere. We got there by going on a bus. We went there because he had the rehearsal for the Kids for Kids. What we did is that we just sang  heaps of songs, we had to sing around 20 song’s.

We because we have been practicing for nearly whole two terms. There was a man called Chris, he was the one that called the schools up one by one from tallest to shortest or it would be from shortest to tallest. We practiced with 15 different schools. It was a big stadium with a big stage for us to sit on and sing our songs. Also we had our music teacher Miss Carter come with her other school Santa Maria and we had Jackie Clark and Nathan King sing along with us. Tokilupe and Rosalina went to try out for the soloists. Tokilupe did not make it in but she still had a part when her and other people from other schools had to dance in a song called ‘She’s a Mod’. The good part was that Rosalina made it in, she got to sing with another girl from another school, we got to hear all the soloists sing. While we were practicing our songs Chris put some actions into it, also Nathan King and Jackie Clark helped him. For some songs they did not put some action in.

Our school had to sit on the benches which were uncomfortable. Halfway through our practice we got to have a break. The moment I stood up I had a big stretch and we got to go eat our lunch. We had to leave some of our lunch behind at school because we were going to come back and eat the rest of it. During lunch time Miss Denney asked us if we were good we would get a surprise back at school.

Once we got back on stage we had to sit back in the same rows that we were at during the first half. We had to finish the other half of our rehearsal. During this time we got to hear the soloists sing. Some off the soloists were amazing from the other 15 schools.  And we also got to see Maata and Tokilupe dance to she’s a mode. Also we got to see Stephenie dance to a maori song called poi e. It was fun because we got to see other boy’s from other’s school’s break dance.
Once we finished practicing all the Kids for Kids song we got to go back to school in the same. When We got to school we got ice blocks as our surprise as our gift for being good. also we go to play around outside because we did not play around outside for the whole day.

It was a very awesome day for room 3 when we went to the rehearsal for the kids for kids. Some part were funny. My favorite part was when we done the actions it was kind of fun doing it.

Filming Reflection

Room 3 had to do a film for the manaiakalani Film Festival. Our film is called Success. What we did in our film was we got separated into groups. I was the director so I got to edit the movie with my teacher Miss G. And the actors were Kanesini, Rosrine, Ma’ata and Victoria was the main actor. What me and my group did for our film was that we did achieving goals. We just had to make a storyboard first then when Miss G checked it we got to finally film. I liked it because we all got to think about something and share it with each other. The only thing I was sad about was that I was not in it because I was the Director.

Maths Reflection

I love maths because I like learning fractions and all sorts of things but I like learning my basic facts the best. Today in maths I went and learned my basic facts by going onto Xtra maths. Also I went on maths whizz this morning. What we do on maths whizz is that we get to learn all sort of maths, also we practice our maths skills. We have to listen to the tutor and then they will give us a little test at the end of it. I am on stage 4 for fractions.

St Pius X Feast Day.

On a lovely sunny morning I woke up and looked up at the sky and the sun was shining very bright down on me. It was St Pius X feast day. I went to school knowing that we were going to have a whole school mass to begin the day, also knowing it was going to be a very long day.

We had our family come along to our whole school mass. We had it inside our school church. After we finished our mass with the beautiful songs we sang we went into the hall to eat a cake to celebrate the feast day of St Pius X. Once the cutted the cake we all clapped. Then the teachers and some room 7 Student delivered the food to us. Finally some of the classes went out off the hall that when I could get some fresh air because I was squashed by room seven and room six. Then we went out off the hall going to get our lunch for morning tea. After morning tea we all lined up in front off room six just as we do in the morning line up. We lined up because we had to go to the hall to show our talent and to  watch the other people show their talent. Once it came up to our turn I was very nervous standing up there because everyone was staring at me and the rest of the class. We were going to perform to song’s which were Something in the water and Haere Mai. After we did that I wasn't nervous because we weren't standing up in front of the school. Once it finished we went out for lunch.

After launch we had to line up in front of room six again because we had to go back into the hall because Linda a friend of Mrs Logan's daughter. She was going to played an instrument in front of our school and the instrument was called a euphonium. When I saw it I thought it was a trumpet.

X Country.

Wow! on a lovely, sunny day I woke up with the lovely sun shining through the window down on me. I was getting ready to go to school. Once I got to school everyone was going on about cross country. I thought it was practice but it was not it was the real day. It happened at St Pius X Catholic School and it was on Tuesday the 13th of August. The whole of St Pius X Catholic School had to run the course but the little children ran around the field. It happened after launch time. The parents came to support their children with their running by cheering for them. Also we had some St Mary’s College girls come and help with the cross country.

So after lunch some of us were excited and some of us were nervous. We all lined up at where we normally line up in the morning when the bell rings. Miss G was giving us advice to do with the cross country. We went into the courts then Miss G called the twelve and thirteen year olds to come to the start line which was in front of the office. She was holding a pair of blocks in her hand and the boys went to the back line and the girls in the front. Miss G said “on your marks, get set, go”. They all started off with a nice and slow jog. They went off onto the road and Miss G called the eleven year olds up. I was very nervous because I was eleven and when we went up to the start line my heart was beating faster than it normally does. I heard Miss G’s voice saying “on your marks, get set, go”. We all started off with a nice a slow pace just like the twelve year olds. Down we went down the driveway and onto the footpath, jogging nice and slow. We ran past some beautiful trees then we came up to some of the St Mary’s College girls and Miss Hogans, they were holding flags and wearing reflective jackets. When I got up to Miss Hogans I was puffing and sweating heaps. I ran passed some of the St Mary's girls and they were saying “come on, you are doing good, keep it up”. I tried to skip some of the course and I did. I then began to ran and came to a no exit with Miss Mafu and some more St Mary's girl’s then we ran round the no exit street. We just had to run straight then we had to turn left then we just had to run straight that when we could see Mr Coakley that meant I was nearly on my second lap but when I was going to go on my second lap Mr Coakley told me to go back up. I went back up puffing and sweating from the running.

Finally got to the end once I passed the finish line I had to go t Miss Williams and she asked me “what did you come?” I replied “I must have come last because I couldn’t finish the race”. Then I went to the court and sat down. Waiting for the other runners to run up the driveway. Once all of them got into the courts that when it was the little children turn to do their cross country so we sat there and supported them just as they did to us.

Cross country was very fun and tiring but the only thing I was sad about is that I did not come 1s, 2nd or 3rd. But for next time I will try my best to come in one of those three places.

The Assumption.

We celebrate the Assumption because Mary’s body was taken up to heaven not like us because when we die our soul get taken up to heaven not our body. Some people say that she died then the whole body got taken up to Heaven but other people thought that Mary went to sleep and God took her up to Heaven. Mary’s Heavenly Birthday is on the 15 of August. Pope Pius declared it be true that Mary’s body went up to heaven.

Camping Holiday

Once there was a family that were going on a holiday at the bush that was far away from the city. They weren't allowed to take the t.v and they weren't allowed to take cell phones because they wanted it to be peaceful.

The only thing they took was boxes of tinned food, fishing rod and the gas cooker and a soccer ball and a cricket bat to play with. They put everything they needed into to the car because they would not be coming back if anything is left behind. They double checked if anything was ready. Dad checked if the sleeping bags were in the car, but they did not notice that the tent was not packed.

They took everything out and they set it up. That was when they noticed that the tent was not there. So they rolled their sleeping bag and everything else back up and put it into the car and they went all the way back home, the children were very happy to be going back to their TV at home.

Worshipping God.

We can worship God in plenty of ways but mostly I worship God by going to church every Sunday.

Some people do the same as me by going to church. How you worship God by going to church is
to have a quite time and to talk to him.

We go to church because we go to sing and worship him and thank him. We also have to do good things not bad things. You could also pray to him to thank him for what he has done or ask him to help you with something you are struggling with in life.

You go to church and you have a seat. You have to obey him mostly have respect for one another especially when you are in church. You have to try and show as much virtues as you can when your in Gods house.

Term 2 thinking

My favourite thing in term two was swimming. I loved swimming because we got to have free time at the end if we were good. Also we had a instructor that taught us how to swim. Also we had to do a little test at the last day with the instructor. They tested us on how far we could swim and I swam two time around the pool.

The least thing I hated this year was the fitness Circuit because it was very tiring and it got us sweaty. The other thing I hated football because it was kind of hard to dribble with the soccer ball with the side of your feet. The last thing I hated was the thinking key because we had to think a lot also the only fun thing was making the cookie protector to make the cookie safe from the cookie monster.

Next term I am looking forward to playing Rugby league and badminton because we had never played it together as a school.
also I am awesomely looking forward to the kids for kids concert because when I went last year it was really fun sitting on a bench on the stage with my class and with all the other classes.

Week 8.

In term two this year in week 8 we had our teacher Miss G go to Melbourne which is in Australia with 21 other teachers from different schools in our area. She left on Tuesday 3:30pm and she came back on Monday 1:30am. Miss G went there to learn how to make our school into a modern learning environment.

While she was gone we stayed here with our relief teacher Mrs Denney. We had a lovely time with her, we got to make a cookie protector to protect the cookie from the cookie monster. Also we got to go out and have P.E with Mrs Denney. We played king ball and also we played cat and mouse, it was very fun. The best thing I did was the cookie protector because I got to work with a friend and we got to build anything we liked but as long as it could protect the cookie from the cookie monster.

When Miss G came back she gave us all a koala from Australia.

Teddy Bear Description.

I am going to write a description about a Teddy Bear called Fuzzy.

Fuzzy is brown and he is very soft and fluffy and he is short but he is adorable too. Also he has a round nose just like a cute little puppy dog.
My friend Fuzzy is lazy, he does nothing because he is a toy just sitting there wearing a colorful bow tie but he is still kind of playful.
My sleeping friend Fuzzy is sort of like a baby, he is kind, he would like to sleep under a blanket with you, you would like it because he is very fluffy.
My best friend Fuzzy likes to act like a baby. He also likes to play with you but what he likes the most is to eat chocolate. What he doesn't like are dogs, dinosaurs, elephants, and pigs because he would definitely not want  to get eaten by them or by any other animal.
What makes my best friend Fuzzy special is that he has big fat fluffy ears and he is not like any other bear because he has something that other bears do not have. He is mine.

The equipment we used was cellotape a piece of string that was 2 metres long and we used a big paper that was called A3 and we used siccors also we used straw. My partner  was Patrick it was really fun working together building our construction.

Pool Description

A few weeks ago we had our pool arrive but for the first few day we could not swim.

Our pool looks so spotless that we could see through it like we can see through wind. Sometimes our pool is as warm as a spa but sometimes the pool is cold like the beach. Sometimes the water is as calm as a mirror.
When we have fun in the pool it is so loud and when you talk it really does echo. Sometimes the pool smells strong because it has chemicals in it. Our pool can be found in the court inside a tent which is call Marquee. We got the pool because we need to swim inside it and for some of us to learn how to swim.

What makes our pool special is that we only get it for quarter of the year. I can’t wait for it to come again next year.

A Covenant

A Covenant is a sacred serious agreement promise between God and Gods people.
