Manaiakalani Film Festival.

On Wednesday we went to Sylvia Park to watch the Manaiakalani Film Festival, we got there by bus. Once we got inside it was dark and we saw the humongous screen in front of us in the theatre. We got to take a seat inside, all of the seats were red except the back chairs. The back chairs were more comfortable than the red chairs up the front.

The first movie that came on was our one and Sonya and Rachel were the ones that introduced it, it was called three words then all of the other schools movies that came on.

My favourite movie was the ‘Be Happy’ movie because they all played the instruments and they were singing, but the part that I liked the most was when Ofa sang the rap.

Sportsmanship

To make sports better you should be a  good sportsman by playing fair and not cheating. Also you have to show respect to the ref.  You can show sportsmanship by being kind and not getting angry with the team.  When playing sport everyone should be honest and not fight eachother.

The Missing Baby

Once upon a time there was a family moving to a new house with their little baby. They all packed their stuff and they got ready to take off. They started taking all of their bags to the van and put some in the boot. They got in the van and started driving to their new house.

They were so happy that they forgot about the baby and left him at
the old house alone. The parents still kept on driving not noticing that the baby was not at the back seat. Once they got their new home they started to get all their furniture out and started to decorate their new house. Suddenly when they were going to have dinner they both said at the same time “where is our baby?”. The dad said “I think we left him at our old house”. They rushed  back and they saw the baby crying.

The mum got him and started crying and they went back and sat the baby down at the back seat of the car and they drove back to their new house and they sat the baby down at the table to have dinner
, sadly when they went to eat the food was cold. After that they did not have diner and they just went to the shops and bought something to eat.

Kids for Kids Concert

On a beautiful sunny day, Monday 17th of September 2012, we had the Kid’s for Kid’s Concert at the TelstraClear in Manukau. We had to go in the morning and put our lunch in the red box and take our bag and hang it up in the corridor way. We all went to the front of the office and we waited there for the bus to come. Once the bus came Miss G told us to go inside and find a seat to sit down. We all sat down and some people were not here so we waited then people started to come after five minutes we got onto the bus. When we were about to go we saw Justin walking on the path way then Miss G told the bus driver to stop for a second then Miss G got out of the bus and told Justin to run. Once justin got on we went, but then we realized on the way that the two twins were not on the bus so we thought that they were not going to come so we just went.

When we got there we were surprised that the two twins were there. We went inside the humongous theater and there were windows all over the place where you walk into. We got to take a seat but we had to put the seat down before we got to sat down and it was darker than outside. When we got on stage it was bright because all the lights went on and it was shining down on us.

When Suzanne Prentice walked in we all looked at her but I did not know her that well, the only thing that I knew was that she had a beautiful voice. Some of the people in my class already knew her from other Kids for Kids Concerts. She came and said “good morning children” and we said “good morning” back to her.

There were ten schools that were there. We started to sing the muppet show theme song, we were the ones that started it off. When we got to go to morning tea we all went back to our seat and we got our morning tea and ate it and some of us got to go to the toilet when we wanted to. When we came back went back on stage we continued singing our songs. We finally got up to the final song which was called talk to the animal’s and I was pleased it was finished because I was quite tired.

X Country

On a sunny Friday 24 August, X Country was set to happen at St Pius X Catholic School.

We all got changed into our clothes that we were going to run in and we got our water bottles and the whole school came and lined up on the courts, we sat in our ages.

We all watched the juniors run their course around the school and we were all cheering. The parents were cheering as well. The juniors all came back puffed out after their races.

When the juniors finished their course it was the seniors turn. We did not run around the school we ran around the streets. It started with the 13 year olds and also Mr Coakley ran. After when the 13 year olds took off the 12 year olds came up, then it kept on going on until it came up to the 10 year olds turn.

When I went to the line up where we had to start the race my feet were shaking and I was nervous. First we got to take a picture then we stood in line with the boys going first. Miss G said “on your mark, get set, go!” we all started off at a slow pace, we were jogging. We were running with our drink bottles and drinking it. We had to go around the course, some teachers were standing around the course with flags telling us the direction we had to go in. After that I had a pain on my hip then I knew it was a stitch. When I came up to the finish line I knew I  could not give up yet, so I ran around the court to the finish line and sat down in my age group. You then had to go to Mrs William if you came 1st, 2nd or 3rd and you would get a certificate.

I came 5th but I still felt proud of myself because I finished the race.

Fractions - week5

In Fractions I already know what is a numerator and a denominator.
What I like about Fractions is when we go on to the matt and our teacher draws pizza and pie teaches us I just find it more easier.
A fraction is two number that are called numerator and the denominator and the numerator always has to be smaller then the denominator.

Torch Description

On Friday at the stadium we saw petals that were on fire because it was the opening ceremony in London.

The Olympic flame looked awesome and pretty and flammable, yellow, orange and petals that were on fire at the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

The Olympics petals sounded like nothing. The Olympic petals were very, very hot if you touched them you will get burnt.

The Torch are only seen at the Olympic Stadium and on T.V. It doesn't do anything it only burns. It is only used for when the olympics is started it gets lit and when it is finished they put it out.

The Olympic torch is special because it is used for the whole time when the olympic starts and it is a symbol of the Olympics.

Netbook Description

I got my Learning tool at the beginning of this year and I love it, also it is better to help me do my learning.

My Netbook is black with a shiny lid with raised key on it and it is clean and I take care of my Netbook well. My netbook has sound but we are not allowed to use it because my teacher does not allow us because it disturbs the students in my class that are working. I like turning on my sound when I go on tux paint because it makes funny noises. My Netbook feels smooth on the top but it feels uncomfortable when you hold it on the bottom because it is rough.

My Learning tool is used to do my work on at school. My Triple E PC is seen inside my classroom during the day and in the C.O.W. when I am at home.

My netbook lets me work on it and it is a learning tool for me to work on. I can go on internet when I am at school and it helps me with my learning.

We use our Triple E PC with our hands to type on the keyboard, also we have to use it extra carefully when we go on the internet but at the same time we have to take responsibility for it.

We are really lucky because we are some of the first people in New Zealand to use netbooks for our learning.

Maths Reflection week 2

Learning Intention - Pentagons I learnt what are factions like the numerator and the denominator and ordering the factions.

Me and my group were learning that the denominator shows how much pieces you have cut the pizza. The numerator shows how much pieces you have eaten from the pizza.

Now I understand what a numerator is and what a denominator.

Taewondo

In Taekwondo you strike or block with the foot or kick and also jump. In Taekwondo there are no age limits also it is a very good sport for children to play. Taekwondo is not a sport where you hurt other people but having control of your-self.  In Taekwondo you can only play it when there is a referee or a professional there to watch. Taekwondo is kind of like Martial.

My Imagination Story.

On a lovely day I was still in bed and my dad came into my room and shouted in my ear “wake up and go and help your mum”. So I got up and went outside and I was still kind of sleepy. My mum shouted “go and grab a spade from the garage and dig a hole in the back yard”.

After I grabbed the spade I started to dig a hole and I dug and dug a massive hole. Suddenly the ground that I was standing on disappeared and I fell into this black hole and I was screaming while I was falling. I landed and I stood up. I was kind of scared because I was in a different world, a world called Grove Plant. Once I got up I heard footsteps coming closer and closer and then I saw him he was big and he was green. Also he said hello my name is hulk and I replayed back hello my name is Misiotei and then he opened up my hand gently and said take this and go back to your planet and make sure no one see this. And then he ran of.

Then I disappeared to the back of my back yard and and I  thought was this a dream or did this come for real then I opened up my hands and I saw there was the diamond that Hulk gave me. But I still remembered what he told me so I ran into my bedroom and I hid the diamond

Pigeon Impossible.

Plot: There once was a man walking on the road with his suitcase and his name was Walter and he was a Secret Agent. He nearly bumped into a tree with his donut. After that he sat down on a bench and a Pigeon came and stood next to him for the donut.
After that he broke a little bit and gave it to the Pigeon but the Pigeon wanted the whole donut to himself. The man wanted it to so he tried to get it away by smacking it but he missed it and the pigeon went into his suitcase. The Pigeon pressed the buttons and it started to shoot the other people.

Problem: The two problems were when the Pigeon went into the suitcase and started to press on all the buttons and it started to shot and blow up cars. The other problem was when Walter threw the donut up into the air and it came down and hit the button and the rocket appeared and it was going to Russia to kill everyone.

Solution:Walter solved the problem by stopping the rocket by shooting a little mini rocket out of the suitcase. He solved the other problem by running into the middle of the road and holding the donut up into the air and the suitcase stopped  and it came down slowly and the suitcase opened all by itself  and Walter came and slapped the pigeon out of the suitcase.

Your opinion of the story: My opinion of this movie that it was amazing. My favorite part of this short film. Is when the pigeon went inside the suitcase because when it was shooting the other people and when it was running after the lady.

Glitter Art.

We did some very awesome Kowhaiwhai patterns.
Rueben Paterson was the artist that inspired my teacher and my class to do this type of pattern.
I enjoyed putting the pastel onto my art because it was making my work cleaner.
I found doing the paint part the hardest because we had to paint it in the lines but not outside the lines and we were only allowed to use three colors and choose black or white.

Orienteering Week 1

On a lovely sunny day we had a man come into our class
with Miss Tui after morning tea to teach us about Orienteering. After Mr McGivern came in Miss Tui told us to come and sit on the mat and we all came and sat on the mat and we all had to be quiet. The man started to talk to me and the class and our teacher Miss Deeney about what we use in orienteering he told us how to use a clipper and who to punch it and he told us how to read a map.

After that Mr McGivern gave some of the room three students a letter on a yellow piece of paper with a number on it and they had to go and hid it somewhere inside the classroom. After that all of room three students had to go and find them. All of us got all the words and we wrote them onto our piece of paper and we got them all right. We had to go back to the mat and guess what it said but Mr McGivern told us to read it backwards and all of us saw that it said ‘have a nice day’.

Finally we got to go outside and play Orienteering with Mr McGivern. What we had to do was we had to run around in a circle and find the letters you have been given from Mr McGivern. We had to use the clipper and punch it and we all did it. On the way to class the bell just rang for morning tea and we went straight to morning tea and started to play again.
