Final Blog...

My journey here at Saint Pius X Catholic School has come to an end. I have been here for 8 years. What I enjoyed the most about being here was making new friends and making them memorable. I also enjoyed experiencing new things in what I learn and in what I do. I also try to achieve goals above and beyond my expected level. I will always treasure my memories here at Saint Pius X.

Touch Reflection...

Touch Reflection

Today we had our second lesson of Touch.  I really enjoyed the touch lesson because we played a quick game of grid touch before we started learning some skills. One of the lessons we learned was how to get rid of two defenders, we just had to draw them in and pass the ball.  It was a skill that I found easy to learn.  It was a great touch lesson.  

Tongan Language Week...

Last week was Tongan language week, me and my whole school dressed up in our own Tongan outfits.  We took a photo with our Principal Mr Coakley.  My class and I made Tongan food for lunch,  the food was nice.  It was great seeing everyone in their nice Tongan clothes.

Anzac Letter.

Dear friends we just had a lovely mass this sunny morning. We had a mass to celebrate the 100 year of Anzac day. We wore our poppies to mass. After mass we went to the grotto and stood around it. There were crosses in front of the grotto. We sang songs and some of the students had little readings to read also some of the classes read.  At the end of it we sang the National Anthem.

Farewell For Halamehi

Dear Halamehi,

Thank you for everything you have done for our school.

Thank you for serving breakfast every morning for us school kids.

Also I thank you for supporting us St Pius X students.

I really think you are and awesome role model for us young kids. I hope you enjoy your time at Australia like you did here.

I know for sure us St Pius X students will miss you so much.

Hokulea Day.

On an lovely morning we got ready to go and welcome the Waka. Us seniors had to walk to Pt England and the Juniors got to catch a bus to Pt England. We started walking when the school bell rang.  When we arrived at the Pt England there were already schools from the cluster there.

When we got there  we sat  down. I was pleased that I got to sit down because I  was exhausted from the very long walk. When we sat down a lady  came to us and told us to etu which meant stand up in Maori. When we stood up we sang songs.

After we sang that song we sang the Waiata song. This song was the song Justin, Rachel, Pate and Lupe did the Haka. After that 3 students from Pt England, Got up and said a Speech.

We got the chance to shake the guests hands, it was a huge honour. We had to wait  for a while because Pt England school had a lot of children! When it was our turn we had to walk up and Hi Five the guests  but we fist bumped with some others.  

After that we were about to walk back to school until Mr Gaffney told us that there was a spear bus that we could go on. Then we had to walk back to the bus and we went back to school. Once we got to school we got to have our morning tea.

Making Cookies...

Today the Te Ranga Tera preapaerd a little cookie making for us. We all got to make our own cookies with our soul friends my soul friend was Alyah in room 3. She made two cookies with just gummy bears and i made 2 layers. Alyah and i enjoyed making cookies we had lots of fun.

Today I was making a spiral about what I desire and what I hope what would happen to me my family, community, friends and the world. After I wrote down what I desire and hoped for I decorated it by coloring it. After we finished what we wrote Petelo which was one of our instructor also Alice and Tina . Petelo put us into groups of two. First we had to try and put our drawing into a see through bottle. For some of us it took time. After we finished putting our drawing in we had to find two other groups and we had to put our work together with the equipment he gave to us. After all of that Alice made splitted us into groups and she told us jokes during we were playing the game she taught us. Alice made the class laugh but i thought going there was a good time for us. Also I was happy because my work was going to been seen by 60,000 people.

Expressive Writing

If the sun would not shine down on us we would be cold all day. we would wake up to no light shinning though our window's. It would be dark all day and we would not see anything. We would be living in dark through out the whole day. We would have no light to play outside. There would be nothing to do outside in the dark as much is there is when the sunlight is out.

Explanation writing about Kindness.

One of the most important virtues that we should use is a word that has to do with caring , showing love , respecting others and listening to others. That virtue is kindness.

Kindness it showing respect towards others no matter how old they are or who they are.Kindness is showing one another that you care for them also being fair to each other. Being kind is something everyone should show to one another. Kindness is doing good stuff for other's also making stuff easier for them. 

Also it is being thoughtful and respecting one another. Kindness is where you can show the virtue love. Kindness is listening to one another. Kindness is not listening to people when they are in the time of need.

Kindness is showing you care about yourself and also caring about others.

Procedural Writing.

In writing we have been learning how to do a Procedural writing. All you do in procedural writing is follow instructions of how to make something. We were making Island mats. We needed an A3 Paper and Black strips of paper to weave in and out. After we finished our mats Mrs Tui laminated our Island Mats. We used it to show the whole school at our assembly what we have done for procedural writing.

My Writing Goals For Term 2

Welcome to term 2. My writing goal for week one is to use 3 different sentence structure these three different sentence structure is Simple, Complex and Compound and to use specific vocabulary.

What College I want to go to.

Selwyn College is one of the best schools around my area.

Firstly I know that selwyn College  has many talented students and it is a mixed up school with boys and girls.  

Secondly I want to participate with all sports and all people who wants to have fun with learning.

Thirdly One of my older brothers has attended selwyn but has finished in 2012 but my second to oldest brother is in selwyn.

Lastly I want to achieve my NCEA level one, two, and three. Thats why I think  Selwyn College will help me do it.

Conclusion, When I leave Saint Pius I hope that I show what I’ve learnt during class to the people at Selwyn.

Soul Friends.

My soul friend Aaliyah likes many things. She is 7 years old and she is a Samoan. She likes to read about Martin Luther king Jr. She loves to play Go home stay home and find out information about him. Also she looks up to Mohandas Gandhi and wants to be like him. She was born on 23 may 2005. Also she is very awesome and beautiful.

Netbook Reflection

What it has been like using a netbook this year it has been cool because it has made my learning better cause we get to go online and search up stuff that we do not know of. And the only stink thing is that it has made my handwriting go worse because we do not write that much we do our work on a document. Also I like how we get to go onto golden time when we are good. Also we go on Xtra Maths to practise our basic facts also we go on Maths whizz. Maths Whizz helps us with different things they give us times table Measurement and heaps of other stuff. Also we get to take our netbooks home which is awesome and we get to do our homework that our teacher gives us we can do it online. It has been awesome using a netbook for 2 years because it is a better way to do our work for me.

  

Cultural Day!

On Friday the 22nd of November we had to show our presentation that me and my group were learning about to our class and the rest of the syndicate. Our class was learning about South America. Miss G separated our class into groups, my group was learning about Colombia.

We started the day with a mass for the Syndicate. After the mass we went out and we went and got our pencils to mark room 7 while they were doing their presentations. Room 7 started with showing their presentations first to us. I liked their presentation because they were not nervous but the only thing was that they did not know their words off by heart. After room 7 we got to go out to morning tea.

After morning tea the whole Syndicate had to line up outside of our class to come and watch us do our presentations. I was feeling nervous standing up in front of room 7 and room 6 and part of room 3. But luckily me and my group went last so that we could have time to practise. The first group that went first in our class was Peru. My opinion about their presentation was that it was good because I liked how the slides changed and I did not know anything about it until they showed us.

When it came to me and my groups turn we stood up and we walked towards the front of the classroom. We started of with a welcome then Ma’ata said something about Colombia’s traditional dance. Kanesini said  Colombia’s Favorite sport was Cycling and Football and Rosrine said stuff about Colombia’s clothing. It was getting closer and closer to my turn. Victoria had her turn explaining how to make food in Colombia. Suddenly it was my turn I was nervous at the same time as feeling alright because instead of the teachers marking it the whole syndicate was marking me and my group. I said my part which was about what languages Colombian’s speak. Colombia's main language is Spanish. After I said my part it was JT’s turn and he was talking about the environment in Colombia.

We all did really well and we were very proud of ourselves at the end of our presentation.
